Sonatina Iråmå
by Christian Erickson
Sonatina Iråmå is a three-movement work for late-intermediate to early-advanced pianists. The fanfare-like opening movement makes frequent use of the sostenuto pedal; the second movement is a dreamy reverie featuring quotations of a few well-known piano compositions from various stylistic periods; and the finale is based on rhythmic systems found in Javanese gamelan music, and from which Sonatina Iråmå derives its name.
